Nikita Seleznev is a Russian sculptor and sound artist from the industrial Ural region whose multidisciplinary practice explores memory, mythology, and identity through sculpture, sound, and immersive installations. Growing up amid the remnants of Soviet life while discovering the outside world through early internet culture, The Simpsons, MTV, and ancient artifacts, he developed a visual language that reflects the tension between inherited histories and contemporary culture. His work transforms these influences into richly imagined environments that blur the boundaries between fiction, archaeology, and personal memory.
Nikita is a member of AFI’s 2026 New York City Artist Safe Haven Residency Program (NYCASHRP), where he is developing new work while becoming part of a community of artists continuing their creative practices in exile.
