Lour is a Palestinian lyricist, composer, performer, and multidisciplinary artist born in Jerusalem. Her work explores themes of conflict, resilience, displacement, and the human condition through music, theatre, and performance.
After writing Arab pop hits for some of the biggest stars in the Arab world, Lour brought her genre-fusing style to New York, where she has established herself as one of the city’s most exciting Arab pop voices. She is the first Palestinian recipient of the Lin-Manuel Miranda Fellowship (2022) and the Rim Banna Award for Music Production (2023), and has received six U.S. awards for her contributions to theatre and music, including the William W. Kleinhandler Prize and the Ruth Scott Sanford Memorial Prize. In 2024, she was named one of the Arab America Foundation’s 30 Under 30 and is currently a NEST Incubator and SoundLab finalist with Jafra Productions.
Her most recent work d AREA D is the first Arab pop musical, blending Broadway traditions with Arab pop and Middle Eastern classical music. AREA D was recently presented at the 2026 CRIMINAL QUEERNESS FESTIVAL at National Queer Theater in collaboration with AFI.
In addition to her work as a composer and performer, Lour has served as a music director, leading the debut of One Thousand and One Nights at the Ramallah Cultural Palace in the West Bank. She studied Voice and Oud at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music and continues to create work that bridges cultures while exploring identity, memory, and liberation.
