Nazanin Noroozi is an Iranian multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans moving image, printmaking, and alternative photography to examine collective memory, history, instability, and displacement. Her work has been exhibited internationally at institutions across the United States and Europe and is held in the collections of the New York Public Library, the Harvard Art Museums, Arizona State University, and Alfred University. A recipient of numerous fellowships and residencies, she is also an editor-at-large of Kaarnamaa: A Journal of Art History and Criticism.

AFI has supported Nazanin through legal assistance and placements in both the New York City Artist Safe Haven Residency Program (NYCASHRP) and the 2025 Artist Community Network (ACN), where she served as a Community Artist Leader. Her work is featured in AFI’s internationally acclaimed report I Create; I Resist on artistic freedom in Iran. She also serves on AFI’s Artist Advisory Board, helping shape the organization’s work to advance artistic freedom and support artists at risk worldwide.

As censorship rises and artists are targeted for speaking truth to power, protecting creative voices has never been more urgent. Since 2017, AFI has supported over 2,000 courageous artists who continue making art even when it places them at risk. Your contribution ensures artists can keep creating, sharing, and inspiring change—protecting both their voices and the right to artistic freedom worldwide.
