From Saturday, January 10th to Sunday, February 1st, visual artists from AFI’s Artist Community Network present their work in a group exhibition at Transmitter Gallery, curated by Eva Mayhabal Davis and Lila Nazemian. Transmitter is a collaborative curatorial initiative based in Brooklyn, New York focused on programming that is multidisciplinary, international and experimental.

The three artists presented, Cansu Korkmaz, Nazanin Noroozi, and Bart Was Not Here, all approach their practice with the history and nuance of lived experiences expressed through painting, collage, textures, and personal imagery. There is a bipartite dialogue between intimacy and transition, pain and calm, as works engage with both world-building and destruction. The works presented for Encapsulate In Transcendence condense emotions and actions across all directions, serving as an impetus to strive and maintain momentum, regardless of the condition the mind and body find themselves in. These experiences stem from instability, longing, and in-between conditions dictated by migration and geopolitical circumstances.

Join us at Transmitter to celebrate the work of Cansu Korkmaz, Nazanin Noroozi, and Bart Was Not Here!

Support AFI’s Work

As censorship rises and artists are targeted for speaking truth to power, protecting creative voices has never been more urgent. Since 2017, AFI has supported over 2,000 courageous artists who continue making art even when it places them at risk. Your contribution ensures artists can keep creating, sharing, and inspiring change—protecting both their voices and the right to artistic freedom worldwide.
