As part of the Heritage & Exile concert series, Artistic Freedom Initiative (AFI) is honored to present an exclusive and unprecedented performance by two of Afghanistan’s most remarkable voices, Mashal Arman and Elaha Soroor, on Sunday, May 25th at 5:00 PM at Studio de Agostini – Conservatoire Populaire de Genève.

Mashal Arman, a celebrated Afghan singer and composer, is known for her deep connection to Afghanistan’s musical traditions, blending classical Afghan melodies with contemporary influences. With a voice that conveys both longing and strength, she embodies the struggles and resilience of Afghan artists in exile, carrying forward the rich heritage of Afghan music while embracing new artistic expressions.

For the first time, she will share the stage with Elaha Soroor, another pioneering Afghan artist whose music merges folk traditions with contemporary sounds and a strong social message. Together, they will create a rare and deeply moving musical dialogue, bridging the past and the present, and honoring Afghanistan’s cultural identity, memory, and artistic resistance.

This concert is a testament to the enduring power of Afghan music, a tribute to artists who defy repression, and a celebration of cultural transmission across generations.
