The Sausalito Center For The Arts & Artistic Freedom Initiative with the support of the National Endowment for the Arts are honored to present STANDING IN THE DUST: Photography of Yalda Moaiery.

Yalda Moaiery is a renowned Iranian photojournalist who has expertly captured pivotal moments over the past two decades. Her lens has documented conflicts, wars, and natural disasters, both in Iran and globally.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

As one of Iran’s most dedicated photographers, Yalda’s compelling work has been featured in major international publications, earning her widespread acclaim. She received the 2018 Courage in Journalism Award for her iconic image of the 2018 Iranian protests and the 2023 Wallis Annenberg Justice for Women Journalists award from the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF). Additionally, Yalda serves as a jury member for the prestigious World Press Photo competition.

There will be an opening reception on Saturday, July 13th, at 5:00pm.
Join us as we welcome Yalda Moaiery to SCA and experience the power of her photography. The evening includes a Persian appetizer buffet and SCA’s no-host bar. RSVP here.

There will be a panel discussion on The Power of Photography in Defying Censorship on Sunday, July 14 from 2:00 to 4:00pm.
On the panel, Yalda Moaiery will be joined by Ashley Tucker: Co-Executive Director, Artistic Freedom Initiative; Jason Rezaian: Journalist, The Washington Post; and moderator Persis Karim: Neda Nobari Distinguished Chair and Director of the Center for Iranian Diaspora Studies, San Francisco State University. RSVP here.
