Event Details

“My songs did not make me famous. The fatwa did.” Thanks to everyone who attended our screening of internationally acclaimed documentary When God Sleeps, about exiled Iranian musician Shahin Najafi

A dynamic panel discussion followed the film, addressing immigration, free expression, and human rights. We heard critical perspectives from filmmaker Sara Nodjoumi; AFI Legal Services Director, Reza Mazaheri; and Executive Director of Center for Human Rights in Iran, Hadi Ghaemi. An extra special thanks to the Forum on Life, Culture & Society, who co-sponsored this exciting event with us.
